The work "Reiki" translates to "universal life force energy". Reiki is a gentle hands on holistic energy healing technique that uses the universal healing energies to bring about stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki recognises that healing needs to occur on emotional, mental, physical and spiritual levels and seeks to bring all these aspects of our psyche into harmony.
The involvement of a Reiki healer is as a conduit for the healing energies to be directed to the recipient.
Reiki is a relaxing treatment and for healing to be encouraged, a relaxed state is beneficial.
Experiencing Reiki is unique to each individual, but it can be described as bringing about feelings of tranquility and serenity.
A Reiki treatment can be enjoyed by anyone in the normal course of their life and can be used alongside and complement any medical treatment. It helps provide emotional support during ill conditions, grief or trauma. Reiki can leave one feeling uplifted, supported and nurtured. It can also enrich our spiritual lives and from this we may gain great emotional strength and resilience.
Karuna Reiki is another form of Reiki but the energies channelled are said to be of a different quality, lighter and more refined.
The word “Karuna” translates to mean “any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others” or “compassionate action”. It is said to offer deeper levels of healing at the cellular level, releasing energies of old patterns and habits, and to give support whilst going through the healing process. So if you feel ready to heal on this level and release what no longer serves you, receiving Karuna Reiki healing energies may assist you with this process.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A REIKI TREATMENT?
After a consultation, and gaining your consent you will be asked to lie on a comfortable padded couch which can be adjusted for your comfort. You will remain fully clothed but I will suggest that you take off your coat, shoes and glasses for your comfort. Hands will always be placed on "non-sensitive" areas. Reiki can also be delivered away from the body by directing it into the body's energy field.
During the treatment you may experience some feelings such as warmth, coolness, tingling and you may enter a deeply relaxed state
Complementary Health therapies should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.
Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions nor do they prescribe or perform medical treatments, prescribe substances, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. Therefore it is recommended that you also visit your doctor for any physical or psychological ailment you may have.
However, Reiki can complement any medical treatment you may be receiving, and as the body, within natural law, has self-healing abilities, a complete state of relaxation can be beneficial.
It is worth noting that long term imbalances in the body sometimes require multiple sessions in order to facilitate the level of relaxation needed by the body to heal itself. Many bodily ill conditions need this time to allow the good changes to take place, to overcome wastages and weaknesses, to build up new strength and vitality.
