EDUCATION AND PRACTICE
I first qualified to practice Reflexology in 1999 after studying with The British School of Reflexology. I was personally inspired with what reflexology can do as it completely stopped my lifelong migraines which were so debilitating and reduced the quality of my life. Since then, Reflexology has always been a great interest and a passion of mine. As I work with clients, Reflexology continues to teach me and reinforce the importance of treating the whole person in order to facilitate a sense of balance and well-being within body, mind and spirit. I am constantly in awe at how this non-invasive, nurturing holistic treatment can bring about positive changes in clients and an improvement in their well-being.
So, we may ask ourselves what well-being is and where it fits in with us. The World Health Organisation partly defines health as "A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity".
When we become aware that we lack well-being, this can be a determining factor in making changes in our lives. How do we attain it when if we are constantly under duress from the challenges we face on a daily basis and the extraordinary pace we sometimes conduct our lives at these days? But it must also be acknowledged that lack of well-being can also result from many other conditions including chronic pain, loneliness, grief, depression, a lack of confidence, feeling unfulfilled and even side effects of necessary medication.
We can’t always change our life circumstances and the subsequent stresses they bring, but there is a lot we can do to reduce their impact on us. Unmanaged stresses can lower the immune system and create the conditions for ill health and lack of vitality. I believe that receiving a reflexology treatment is a positive step towards putting you in control of managing your well-being and your stress levels. When you are relaxed in body and mind, you are less likely to feel so overwhelmed and exhausted by the stresses of daily living, and feel more equipped to cope. Neuroscience has actually shown that the body secretes hundreds of neuropeptides, and in response to continued stress they can have a devastating effect on our physiology.
I am also a Reiki Practitioner, having attained Reiki Mastership in 2007 and became a registered Karuna Reiki Master in 2012. Please see my Reiki information page for more details on Reiki and Karuna Reiki.
I attained a Diploma in Indian Head Massage in 2002 but have not yet included this in my practice.
After working with Reiki, my interest in Spiritual healing developed and evolved. I became a Registered Essex Healer in 2007, then joined Billericay Spiritualist Centre in 2010 and now hold Spiritualist National Union Registered Approved Healer status.
